The new Paroscientific Intelligent Transmitters and Depth Sensors consist of a DIGIQUARTZ^® pressure transducer and a digital interface board in an integral package. Commands and data requests are sent via either one of the RS-232 or RS-485 interfaces. Digital outputs are provided directly in engineering units with typical accuracy of 0.01% over a wide temperature range. Output pressure is fully thermally compensated using a quartz crystal temperature signal. All intelligent transmitters are preprogrammed with calibration coefficients for full plug-in interchangeability. Our new intelligent electronics includes both RS-485 and RS-232 as standard interfaces on the 1000, 6000, 9000 and 8000 series pressure transmitters and depth sensors. Additional enhancements include these new features:

Integration time no longer dependant on measured period. Allows precise synchronization of pressure measurements among transmitters on RS-485 multi-drop network

Data integrity

Processor supervisor IC prevents loss of stored configuration data during low-power conditions, even in electrically noisy environments

Power management

Can automatically switch to a low-power state when serial communications are absent for a user-configurable length of time
Board "wakes up" 0.6 sec. after receiving any character on either serial port

I/O and power line protection

RS-232 and RS-485 serial I/O lines are protected by transient voltage suppressors
RS-232 and RS-485 serial interface IC's feature 15KV ESD protection
Digital I/O lines are protected by transient voltage suppressors and series resistors
Power input is protected by transient voltage suppressor

Serial data formatting features

Optional fixed-field data format for enhanced compatibility with serial data loggers

New Digital Display

The Model 715 digital display can receive and display data from a Paroscientific pressure transmitter via either the RS-232 or RS-485 interface.

Engineering units displayed along with pressure values

Ability to display user-defined alphanumeric information

Update enunciator indicates when pressure value has been updated

Provides 7 VDC regulated power to Intelligent transmitter
